10 Solo Date Ideas To Optimize Your Self-Care Practice

Regardless of whether you’re single or partnered, dating yourself is a must. The relationship you have with yourself is what sets the standard for all other relationships you have, so it’s one you’ll want to get nice and cozy in. Not only are solo dates a great way for you to connect with yourself, but they can also be cathartic in ushering personal development initiatives forward, pursuing your goals, and releasing negative energy that isn’t serving you well.

While it’s a popular self-care activity, not all solo dates involve a book and a bubble bath. “Me time” can take many different forms, and the further you push yourself out of your comfort zone without your social safety net, the more fruitful your investment will be.

10 Solo Date Night Ideas:

  1. Take yourself to a museum or art gallery.
  2. Grab a bite to eat at your favorite restaurant.
  3. Take a class or hosted activity (wine and paint, cooking, yoga, pole dancing, etc.).
  4. Book a session a pottery painting studio. My recommendation is to make something you’ll use or see in your home on a daily basis that serves as a reminder to bring yourself back to center.
  5. If you have access, meditate in the sauna at a gym. If not, meditate outside in nature (like a park bench). If you’re in public all you need is some headphones and a pair of sunglasses and I promise, nobody will even know what you’re doing.
  6. Go sightseeing in a neighboring city.
  7. Go to the movies. Don’t forget to sneak your favorite snacks in your bag!
  8. Journal at your favorite coffee shop. Prompt: write a letter to your younger or future self.
  9. If you have the means, book yourself a spa appointment. Facial, massage, acupuncture- fulfill whatever your body craves in the moment.
  10. Redecorate a dedicated space in your home. I.e. your workstation, bathroom, closet, etc.
